I first became a fan of Mos Def when I first saw ‘Ms. Fat Booty’ on BET’s RAP CITY back in the day. His delivery on the mic was as ill as his lyrical skills. It was refreshing to hear something new that reminded me of the past. Through listening to Mos Def, it opened me up to the Roots, Talib, Common, and that whole Rawkus roster. Mos has always had mad steez. From when he first came out in that underground east coast steez to when he switched to that more GQ old school player vibe in Alicia Keys’ “You Don’t Know My Name” video. He currently linked up with streetbrand UNDRCRWN to create a tee for a show he did in Carnegie Hall called the Watermelon Syndicate.
